Workshop at the Centre Soleil d’Afrique, Bamako Mali

Parrallel to the 5th ‘Rencontres de la Photography’ (African Photography biennual) in Bamako, the Centro Soleil d’Afrique dorganised a workshop centered around the confrontation between artistic concepts and crafts, and more specifically the introduction of graphic techniques and the photographic image into Malinese Bogolan painting.

After an introduction to the technique of Bogolan, the participants of the workshop made several Bogolan works for different (social) contexts: Bogolan as clothing, Bogolan for the commercial/tourist market and artistic Bogolan. The workshop will be directed by the Malinese photography artist Alioune Bâ and the Belgian artist Narcisse Tordoir.
