Hoffmann’s house is a cultural experience whose objective is to produce and ease the conditions of art-work circulation, expecting to create a space of consistent analysis and debate over the contemporary art production in Chile. This experience revolving around art is an effort to suitably disseminate the ideas that have been generated in the context of the emerging Chilean visual arts, this is done so, by revising the works of the artists who have been producing their art quite aloof the commercial circuits in the recent years

It could be said that when we talk about this “cultural experience” we mean production systems, diffusion, and circulation of contemporary Chilean art of the 90’s, which is embedded in the local milieu and lacks the structures to give room to this kind of investigations, whether it be by financing, promoting or suitably set up this experimental productions. So from there comes up the idea of setting and deploying a wooden “basic dwelling “ painted in white, to be a space for arts. This being the logical movement to question the “Chilean State” which in its democratic restitution does not yet give culture the role it has to have and deserve.

Hoffmann’s house is a forum to debate and place part of the Chilean contemporary production within a clear position of re-installing itself before the fine arts production of the “Advanced scene” that in the 70’s gave shape to most of the Chilean visual proposals.
The 18 square meters of this wooden house have proven the condition in which the emerging art production is. But besides the things it lacks, its wants and references in an apparently global society, it goes far beyond the local references.
