Workshop on Cultural Management Research for Artists II

Definition of the type of management they are responsible for, its mission and objectives.

MOTP, is a non-profit, self-managed space based on the exhibition and reflection upon contemporary art. Looking for:

-New trends of Argentine contemporary production.
-Fostering experimentation
-Artwork that is balanced between personality and risk.

The seed of this project was our own and other artists’ need for a place to hold projects, shows and meetings.

A place which the city did not have and we thought of necessary to meet some requirements and objectives that had been previously set. It is an architecturally suitable place, well lit, neutral and with the capacity of hosting naturally different kinds of proposals.

To make artists and their works known and give the same possibility to non-renowned artists within the circle to have works matching the present and place requirements. Therefore, basing this relationship on the parameters of respect and consideration for our peers.

To develop an interest towards the new art language and an approach to the makers aloof from the fashionable collectors’ snobbism and closer to the amateur viewer.

Description of the internal organization of its initiative, defining the human resources they have and the job each of the members do in the management.

We are a totally horizontal organization, everything connected with space is dealt by the three people in charge, the tasks to undertake are assigned according to ideals, time availability and so on.

Outside-people’s participation is also taken into account through the presentation of their proposals, projects and initiatives that are previously assessed, accepted and taken as a starting point to work jointly.

The lack of funds does not allow us to empower tasks that sometimes exceed our capacity to carry them out due to the lack of time availability.

Set a maximum and minimum objective projection and the expectations of the initiative and assess the external view upon it.

Maximum projection. We expect to be a national reference as regards as:
-having our own self-financed space
-showing artists and works within the new trends of contemporary production.
-the generation of new means to spread contemporary language.

Minimum projection
- to finish the basic infrastructure projects for an easy development of the space (heating, depot extension and the media library)

The outside view on the initiative
-All the visitors to the space agree that, at national level, it is one of the best exhibition showrooms.
-Wide support and acknowledgment from artists, curators, critics and so on, that know our proposal, way of working and how we curate shows.
-To make our project known through national media.
