CASA 13 (HOUSE 13) is a space that hosts a project conceived in 1993 within the Provincial School of Fine Arts of Cordoba, as an Arts production and communication center, whose main objective was the starting point towards reflexive concepts that would work as foundation for emerging artists.

However, we have the capacity to acknowledge that along these 10 years such expectations have been highly exceeded by a superior social sense, a desire and willingness of setting up our own and welcoming space. This space is the beginning to generate displacements of the reason of being of our initiative, translated into a continuous redefinition of objectives, and they are as follows:

-the recovery of the significance process that would let us rescue and acknowledge the meaning of History.
-re-state the sense of the “work of art” in its context/ not defined by its object-like condition but by the space it occupies.
-redefine the figure of the curator in our environment and foster a joint-venture between the art-work makers and the ones that write about it.

These objectives refer to arts matters, through our experience they are means that converge in the constant assertion of the art/life binomial enforced in the interpersonal related production.

As regards as human resources, this project has been accompanied for ten years by its master-minder, Anibal Buede, and today, Beatriz Scolamieri is in charge. With this organizational feature, we have to recognize that Casa 13(House 13) is the core of many other group and individual projects that orbit around it. As far as its physical space is concerned, it is one of the 13 houses that make up the complex, Paseo de las Artes ( The Arts Walk).

PROJECTS 2003/2004

Casa 13 is curating a project of urban interventions in charge of 40 artists from Cordoba, next November.
We think it is a good opportunity to confirm or modify some of the parameters that gave our work a kind of political profile.
This curating exercise is done graphically placing the projects and ideas on a city map, where the shipments will be registered and the texts will be accompanied by meaningful data that would help clear up some ideas. This will be documented in a subsequent issue.

Publication
The present project maintains alive the need and desire to create a space for image and text like legitimate cultural documents with the historical value that this entails.
The magazine will develop a different topic in every issue, where the text and image production would be framed.

OTHER PROJECTS
Casa 13 is already receiving artists’ projects to be carried out in its exhibition premises for 2004.
