APEIRON is a Greek word,
which means "a huge and inexhaustible mass that expands in
all directions", it can also be identified with infinite space.
"We are in silence" that is how we presented ourselves
last year in some sessions of "Conversations" about independent
spaces in Cordoba, organised by the museum of Caraffa.
This phrase defines another condition of our activity as opposed
to what we had been doing until 2001.
The kind of management that Apeiron Zool carries out has changed
over time.
We began by opening a space in which fine work shows, music hall
and theatrical performances were held (some were our very own plays
and shows) trying to give room to artists who are on the search
for new languages mixtures. All of a sudden, we entered the world
of management and our objective as artists-producers was to find
a very personal and qualified way of production.
Our most important project in the production of shows was: FASE,
a performing arts and music international cycle. (2000 and 2001
editions)
During 1999, we were supported by our members, but some time after
we were sponsored by the National Theatre and some of our events
were also supported by The Agency "Cordoba Cultura' and the
city council of Cordoba city.
The organisational structure, in the first phase of the project,
was made up by five artist, as a steering committee, who came from
fine arts and the performing arts. We co-ordinated the first two
areas that started to work in Apeiron Zool:
Fine arts, seminars and shows (24h display)
Performing arts, seminars and shows.
In 2000, this structure was modified and the steering committee
was finally made up by two director-artists who co-ordinated all
the projects along with the incidental co-directors of every working
area.(like rolling teams).
Due to very significant problems in the economic structure of our
organisation in 2001 we had to close down our space.
In 2002, we worked in another space granted by CASA XIII, we organised
some events and visual art shows; thereafter a restatement of our
organisation mission started which continues until today.
On the search for management tools, the directors of Apeiron Zool,
are doing some upgrading courses on Cultural Management and Organisational
Management so as to find an economic unity and a new entrance in
the milieu with other focuses for our organisation.
